A forehead flap is reserved for treating more extensive defects of the nose, or in cases where grafting is not an option. It is similar to the nasolabial flap, and a forehead flap requires two outpatient procedures separated by three weeks. Cartilage grafting may be done in conjunction with this procedure if necessary.
