Allergy Treatment and Testing

At Raleigh Capitol Ear, Nose & Throat, we believe that allergy treatment is both an art and a science. The science of treating adult and children’s allergies involves precise formulation of extracts tailored to meet the needs of each individual patient, based upon quantitative testing. The art of allergy treatment involves mastering and fine-tuning the rate and dose escalation of allergy serums for each patient. We are pleased to bring both of these aspects together to present the highest level of patient care.

Allergies affect an estimated 40 million Americans, and allergic rhinitis, which affect about 20 to 30 million Americans, accounts for 3% of all medical office visits nationwide.Allergic diseases are the second most common reason patients seek a healthcare professional. More than 10% of the world’s population is believed to have symptoms of allergic rhinitis. Allergy treatment is suited for the otolaryngology office – it’s a natural extension of rhinological practice. It allows complete otolaryngic medical and surgical therapy of patients.

An otolaryngologist—a physician who specializes in treating diseases of the nose, ears, and throat—is uniquely qualified to determine whether symptoms are caused by an allergy, infection, structural problem, or combination of all of these. We specialize in the treatment of inhalant allergies, which may cause symptoms such as recurrent or persistent colds, cough or difficulty breathing, frequent sneezing, stuffy nose and/or runny nose, recurrent or chronic sinus infection, recurrent or persistent sore or swollen throat and post nasal drainage, recurrent ear infections and chronic upper respiratory tract problems.

On this page are several links that provide information about different types of allergy treatment, the scope of services we offer, and what you can expect if you or your children undergo allergy treatments at one of our six convenient Raleigh Triangle offices.
